These look great. I can't see anything I would have done different except do a little sanding of the blank before you put the pattern on. The base is the size of the blank, so if the blank is sanded, the base is too...

I took a 1/4 sheet sander and flipped it upside down and bolted it to my workbench. Now I have a sanding surface that is fixed, and I can use two hands on small items that need to be sanded....

I use emory boards. Sometimes I have to cut them in half lenthwise, but if you are using a good blade, all you really need to do is to sand the "fuzzies" off. The Emory board works great for that.

But, if you aren't picky about looks, I use four dollar tackle boxes to store the ones I build. It's faster and cheaper. Takes two per set.

When you recut that, use a pencil and draw a line from where the horse's jaw connects to the neck, straight up. That is the line to follow. It is normal for the amount of "face" to vary, and I have had some very narrow faced knights. If it is consistently narrow, then back off on the angle...

Wow, both the board and the pieces look fantastic. I'm really excited to see the Walnut as well. I cut one set with walnut and ended up with a void in the middle of the board that didn't show up until I actually cut the pieces. But it added to the set and I left it in.
