You did a beautiful job on this piece. I've been wanting to make it for a long time. The colours are perfect. I almost always finish the aspen parts with water-based finish. It does keep them whiter.

You can print labels the same as you can print business cards (if you're printing them yourself, which I do). I attach a label to the back of all but my very smallest projects that has the same info (and often a picture) as is on my business card. The smallest labels have only my business name and...

A very rural Christmas craft fair
I was asked to participate in a small craft fair at a decommissioned church about 20 miles further into nowhere than where I live. I wasn't expecting much, but for 20 bucks for a table, I said, What the heck, let's try it. The snowstorm the previous night lessened my expectations somewhat! But it...

I'm glad someone else answered the question about where to buy pizza boxes. I buy mine from a local wholesaler here in Nova Scotia, which probably isn't much help to you! Agreed. Butternut is one of my favourite woods for intarsia because of it's beautiful colour and grain and it's soft enough to cut very easily but doesn't dent if you look at too long like pine and cedar. It does have a bit of fuzz and requires good sanding, but I've found it finishes beautifully...

Great looking project! Love puffins and their colours lend themselves well to making great-looking intarsia. Would love to take one of Judy's classes someday. Thanks for posting.

I had to smile when I read that you make your ornaments to fit the boxes, Rolf. Practical people we are! I use pizza boxes for packing my intarsia and have done the same thing, everything must fit a 6, 9, 12 or 18 inch box. Well, almost everything. Can't stuff a JGR big eagle in one, but you can...

I'm feeling the need for some Canadian input here.
50 loonies
40 toonies
40 fives
5 tens
2 twenties
I charge $18 for my bird ornaments and virtually everyone pays with a 20, so those loonies and toonies go quickly. All my...
