Good job Diane, I'm sure it will be appreciated and a discussion piece for a long time.
Once I cut my first portrait I started looking at photo's a lot different, trying to imagine how they will look in wood.

Hey Jerry, that's really cool. The ones that I've seen have been cut with air drills, high end dremels with real fine bits. This person used ostrich eggs, seems like I remember that she soaked them in something to make them not so brittle but still looks like tedious work. Hers look sort of like lace...

It's allways good to see someone trying to advance in this hobby. Andy Deane helped me get started, here is his tutorial. He is using Paint Shop Pro but I was able to follow his tutorial with a freeware version of Paint.net. You can get it at "getpaint.net" and it has all the features that...

Really cool Trout, I like this sort of game. We go camping a lot & this will be a good one to keep in the camper. I assume the washers are painted, if so it'll be interesting to see how they hold up. What size are the washers? They look almost as large as the holes.
    How does the score board...

Kerry, do you have a band saw? How about re-sawing it, cedar is really soft and for it you shouldn't need a wide blade. There are free plans out there for homemade re-sawing fences, just have to do a little searching, don't quite remember what site I've seen them on.

    And as for the box,...

  • Hey Ron, all cotton cloth like tee shirt materal. They sell these types of rags at local home stores, called, odly enough "box of rags" which are tube like the body of shirts. Old cotton socks work really well too, wash them first. Really any material that won't leave any fuzzies behind works...

Gill, curious about your cutting technique. Do you use the whole pattern and cut the line out or are you cutting one piece at a time and drawing the cut piece over the adjacent pattern? Wanting to get into segmentation but still not quite sure about it, haven't found that pattern that has driven me...

  • Very good likeness Kevin, good job on your first one. I agree with Mike on this one, he needs a little more hair over the ears and on top. You might want to work on the sweater too it seems to be overpowering to the picture. Keep working on it and it'll become something that you and the recipient will...

Hello John, welcome to the family. As far as the saw, I've owned a two speed Delta and upgraded to DW788 and love it. Excellent cutting machine with little vibration, haven't had the problems with mine that some others have had. Would I buy it again? Yes. I'm sure machines like the Excalibur may be...

What can I do with Corian?

My wife works for a cabinet company designing and selling. She has brought home some 2" square by 1/4" thick corian pieces. Any ideas on what I could use them for. By the way they are all different colors.
