The pattern is from Patrick Spielman and Carl Roehl's book Making Bowls with a Router and Scroll Saw (about 1990).

Enhancement of purchased wood bowl
Earlier I mentioned that I had found a wood bowl, 13 inches diameter x about 4 1/2 inches deep, at the local Thrift Store. Below are a couple of pictures of the bowl. One is of the bowl as I purchased it and the second is with the pattern I plan to use to saw a design around the top of the bowl. This...

Hi Patsy, welcome to scroll sawing. You can do larger projects on a 16” saw. Much of how is covered here already. I started out with a 15” or 16” Delta and now use a 22” Hegner. Here are some of the things I did to saw larger pieces - Drill more than one starting hole, sometimes 3 or 4 depending...

Thank you for the comments.
Carole - I haven't done anything recently . I must do some more bowls. The OSB (oriented stand board) has fairly large chips that it is made from. There are actually spots where tiny openings go through the sides. I will have to go to Dave's app and do some...

Bowls
One picture is of 3 different bowls I have sawn a few years ago. The oval bowl from 3/4 inch walnut and is finished with tung oil and the square bowl sawn from 5/8 OSB sub floor is finished with satin waterbased varathane. Both these are designs from Carole Rothman's first bowl book. The third bowl...

House warming sign
A while ago a friend requested that I make a sign as a house warming gift they wanted to give. They then went ahead and drew up the design and purchased a wood cutting board to make the sign on. The wood is olive about 18 x 10 inches 3/4 inch thick. My friend wanted the main lettering , "Home Sweet...

Hey "big puzzle cutter" your work is awesome. Re your question on sawing a puzzle 2' X 4'. Quite a number of years ago I had the opportunity to saw a puzzle. It was a print of a lynx done by wildlife artist , Gail Adams, who I believe lives in Edmonton, Alberta now. I happened to be at a craft...

Thank you. I cleaned and regreased the roller bearings then put the new parts on my Dewalt. When replacing the clamps I noticed that there is some space between the sides of the new clamp and the arm tip that has the roller bearing inside. The sleeve that the bolt goes through runs on the roller...

Thank you for all your comments and help. I found one of my wing bolts to clamp the blade had a bent tip (probably caused by over tightening). I ended up getting a set of Pegas replacement clamps. Just installed them on my saw and have to do some adjustments before I try it out. One question I have...

Yes, welcome to scroll sawing. I am new to the forum but have been scroll sawing for some time. I have two saws on factory stands. Both are at the height where I stand or at times use a higher stool. One is flat and the other has an adjustable rear leg to allow sawing with the saw tilted down toward...

Bottom of blades bending like a hockey stick blade on Dewalt 788
I have a Dewalt 788 since new, now about 15 years old. When detaching the bottom blade holder, lifting the arm and feeding the blade down through the top of fretwork after a few times the end of the blade is bent like a hockey stick blade. If the wood happens to be 1/2 inch or more thick the blade eventually...

Thank you for at the welcome notes. I have been looking at some photos that I have and will try to upload them later this week. I have also been working on redoing a homemade vacuum system I made years ago to take the dust off the top to see the cutting line when I'm sawing so I may be be able to...
