Yup, double-bevel inlay. Been at it a long time. It's my favorite thing to do with my saw..
if you're interested, there's a flash presentation at the top of this section, intarsia inlay and segmentation, that's a good primer/tutorial on the subject.

Celtic Knot Box
I'm on a box kick..
This one's made with aspen, mahogany, and poplar..
8 1/2" x 4 5/8" x 2 1/4", with a 1 3/4" interior depth.

Having spent time painting on canvas, I no longer dread painting when a project calls for it. There's a zen to it. It's now a magical place for me.

Thanks everyone. It's good to be back in the saddle again, well back on the stool as it were. heh
I'm finding that as time goes by, I have a more courageous outlook on what I'm doing to the wood. My techniques are more solidified in my mind. It seems that the time away has made my return so much...

Carved inlay feather box
Finally getting back to the shop. It feels good.
I've got a series of inlaid boxes in the works.
14" x 5" x 2", 1.5" deep interior.
The inlay is butternut and cherry. The carcass is walnut and cherry....You do not have permission to view this gallery.
