Thanks Don. I have a couple in his listing, including the one I modified here. There's some great patterns there.

    Celtic 4 layer cross

Was in the mood to do a scrollsaw cut the other day so I thought I'd do something related to our Irish heritage. I've always been interested in Celtic Crosses ever since our trip to Ireland, Scotland and England back in 2014. I found a picture and did a little modification to make it the way I wanted...

Sorry Rolf.. been down for a while. Did in 2 more disc in my back over the pandemic. Anyway.. I bought a 3D printer from Monoprice. It's a Monoprice Select Mini 3D printer. It was only $180 when I bought it. Build size is 5 x 5 x 5. I've had to make a few things in sections and glue them together like...

Been off-line for quite a bit but during the pandemic I attacked the problem of dust collection on my scrollsaw with my 3D printer. I wanted the most vacuum I could get from my vac system for both below and above the saw table. Dust drives me crazy because of allergies. The bottom (which I couldn't...

Needed to do the same thing because of all the dust the MDF was kicking up at me. I have the luxury of having a small 3D printer, so I just
designed some parts to collect the blade dust the lower vac port didn't. I wound up making the scoop for the table, the articulated arm connecting it to...

To all.. so sorry it's been over a month since I responded. I was down with back problems and mostly slept. 2 more ruptured disc one above and one below my hardware installation. Walking and working gently till the Covid crap is over. No surgeries being scheduled around here right now.
    Anyway.....

    Bank Vault style door lock

I though a neat door lock for the basement furnace room / storage room would look like a bank vault gear setup. So.. 380 gear teeth later, I came up with this. A combination of Baltic birch and MDF of various thicknesses it took a couple days to come up with the final design and cutting of the gears....

I actually retired pretty early because my job had me running around between Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana. My home area was the Eastern half of Pa (368 properties), emergency generator maintenance, under ground tank replacement, and building security system update/maintenance for the other 2 states....

  • Mounted the gears on the furnace door today and started the right side latch assembly. Only got about 2hours in before hands and hips gave out. It doesn't look too bad.. Just a little lost in the middle of the door. Latch works fine. I made it so the latch can be raised without using the gear process...

  • NC .. It's not patience. I believe it started out as boredom lately. LOL I actually started scrolling back in the mid 70's. I'd scroll.. break a lot of blades and quit. Even sold the saw. Bought another saw sometime in the early 80's. Used it for a while and broke a LOT of blades Gave it to a buddy....

  • A free program I've had for quite q while called 'Gear generator'. It does 1 or 2 gears at a time, pin gears, rack gears, chains, sprockets, etc. A very nice design program.
The rest is done on my Ryobi 16" scroll saw.

  • Something to make dealing with Covid bearable

Been working with a lot of teeth this week and I'm not even a dentist. I think it's up over 200 now. And I'm still sane! I think. Going to be attached to one of the barn doors I just made for the basement "wrecked room". Not really going to lock anything but it will be functional. Think bank...
