I take the opposite attitude. If the pattern designer doesn't specifically restrict my rights, in which case I'd really have to think long and hard about buying that pattern, then I feel free to sell my work. The pattern designer cannot come back and assert restrictions not normally applied in the...

The switch on the 788 is known to be flaky and often needs to be replaced, although blowing it out seems to help quite often.
I bought my replacement from this company. I've had good luck buying from them.

Kofte got it.
It's a burl of Mertylwood from the Oregon coast.
I suppose Pajaro could be considered correct as well.

Nobody's gotten it yet
Hint: The burl was a gift from my Mother In Law. She picked it up on a trip to Lincoln City, Oregon. The wood is native to that area.

Not olive, sorry.
I'm thinking that I"ll either just leave it alone or, maybe, put a set of clock hands and movement (no numbers or face) on it.

Chellenge: Identify this wood
I've had this burl kicking around in the shop for a year or so. Last weekend I decided to lop off the front and make it into 'art.'
Challenge: Identify this wood
Hint: Only if nobody gets it in a couple of days.
Oh, and before anyone guesses, it wouldn't be much...

A little more information would be helpful.
- What kind of saw are you using?
- What kind of wood are you using?
- What kind of blade are you using?
- What speed are you using?
The times I've had issues like this, It's been my pushing the wood through the...

Well, I tried it over the weekend. While it will have a place on my shelf, it won't be my go-to finish. That is, and will remain, Deft.
The stuff went on well and cleaned up nicely. It seemed to me like I was using a lot of it, though. I've never done much with gel finishes, though,...

Have you ever used Good Stuff?
I was in the local hardwood store last weekend and picked up a quart of something named Good Stuff. It says it's a finish designed for butcher blocks. Apparently pretty much a gel-based varnish.
Has anyone used this stuff? What were your experiences?

There can be a number of reasons why your computer is slow. Some can be fixed by the suggestions above, but there are other possibilities. I would:
- Clean up the disk (bring up the Windows Explorer, right-click on the disk and on the General tab select the Disk Cleanup option). ...

Woodcraft used to sell a big red metal box with an assortment of bits from 1/8 up to 1/4, and 5+ of each. It was very inexpensive considering all the bits you got. I bought one of the brad point sets and one of the standard sets. Whenever I'm doing something that I think might be hard on the bit,...

I think you can relax, Chuck. I didn't read Warren's message at all as offering to send the pattern. He said he'd find the pattern somewhere. I would trust most people, but especially someone like Warren, to mean that he'd help find a place on-line or in a book where the pattern can be found and...

You are apparently running Windows XP.
Backups will only skip files if they are in use. That is, if there is a program or service that's actively using the file, the backup program can't open the file because if a program is writing information to the file, no other programs can open the...
