Some excitement in my life!
Thought I'd share that this week I'll be taking a woodworking class at the Marc Adams School of Woodworking. (Those living closer to central Indiana have a better chance of having heard of the school.) The course will be "Basic Woodworking," and at the end of the week I'll have made a table....

LOL. I'm getting to count on these, John!
(Even though here it is Sunday evening and I read, "It's Monday. Rise and Shine. Huh ... Wha ... Oh, it's JohnB!)

Wow! Now your picture can be on a Smucker's jar with Willard Scott reading your likes and dislikes.
Congrats! You give us all hope.
What, BTW, is your secret?

I take the tension off of myself at the end of the day -- only make sense that it'd be good for sharp blades, too.
But seriously, I have always released the tension on my scroll saw when not in use. I need to get into that habit with my new band saw, but the tension release lever is...

I was going to ask if you were going to put a saddle on that thing, but then you said it's a meat-eater, so ...
I like your comment about your tools fitting your life style. I'm contemplating what my tools say about my personality. <G>

Really nice! I have a piece of 3/4" bloodwood (was looking at it just today in fact) and was contemplating what kind of project to use it in. I've never used it, but it just kinda felt like it'd not be too easy to cut. And, no, I'm far from being any kind of "wood whisperer."

I love it, Kerry! The fonts, the castle and fairy, even the troll threat!
Because of the medieval flavor of the sign, "dominion" works for me. All those kings and bishops and all had dominionover their subjects and territories and ... (okay, I'm reading "Pillars of the...

Ok - that makes sense. Or, at least it did for about 30 seconds.
If you sell the original (for the original price), without having any copies, you'd be out no money and have no pattern - a wash. The guy you sold it to would have the pattern and also would have paid for it - same as...

Really beautiful!
It's folks like you, Bill, that make me want to get into turning. But I have to stifle (for now). Seems it's hard enough to finish some projects let alone add to the "Techniques To Try" list.

Okay, so both you, Evie, and Mike Crosa have the wall-mounted Hoover - a "GUV". Cool. I'll go check it out for use for the sawdust-monsters like the table saw, band saw, and planer.
Thanks, guys. And gal.

Welcome to the forum, Ajay, and Happy Retirement! I was fortunate enough to retire early last year, and I'm still getting used to it. (That was NOT a complaint!)
I think you've picked a fantastic, addictive hobby. I agree with Barefoot1 - you can't go wrong with any of those saws,...

I like Dale and Karl's suggestion, but agree with Pajaro - make sure you know what it is that you're destroying in the process of creating. Things can also be sentimental - not just monetary. Also be sure and "harvest" any of the songs you like off of them first.
