I think if it's gonna warp it's gonna warp regardless how thick the backer is because wood movement is based on water coming and going and you can equate that to the power of ice in the winter..if water is in a steel pipe and water freezes it breaks that super strong pipe. Thanks Dave. Things are not bad for me at all, things are great! I just lost my old job of 12 yrs and had to get a new one is all. I don't remember how big that is. It's not overly huge. I haven't quite finished it yet, been on the back burner for a little while. I like to keep things small as I can. I think intarsia is easier if it is kept small as possible, although some of the pieces can be harder to cut, the overall shaping...Leave a comment:

Cathy it kinda depends, I use cut trace method not glue pattern on wood so each piece is matched together by cutting then cleaning edges square with sander then tape them together and then trace next part off existing parts. I mostly cut to just leave the line but in some cases you cut to remove the...Leave a comment:

You have to figure out what works best for you, how you want your final product to look and then ignore the rest my friend.

I would use 7 or 9 skip tooth. Tons of tension and I cut slow speed slow feed. Chug chug chug! Purpleheart is like steel and if you ever tried cutting metal with hacksaw you know slower you stroke blade faster you cut through. Slow means no burns and minimal blade bow as the blade has time to cut and....Leave a comment:

I break about 2 blades per 12 dozen. As everyone says, tension is important, not pushing too hard, side pressure a no no. Unlike many though, I like slow speed. I find things are easier to control. I mostly cut very very small pieces. I always recommend you use the largest possible blade for the job...Leave a comment:

Trophy Bass
Well, I guess I haven't shared anything in quite a while, so here goes...I consider this inlay, so I guess this would be the best spot for it.
The bass is scrolled urethane acrylic and is 1/2" x 1" in size. I machined all the pen parts myself from Aluminum rod. I also dug... -
