Thanks for the heads up. I checked petersoncustomlubmer, and they don't have the sizes I need (Cherry, 8"x24"x1/2"). How is the quality from ocoochhardwoods.com? They were the second best in prices so far. Trying to get some supplies so I can make a Christmas gift for a family friend.... -

Anyone order from them lately? I've tried emailing them a couple of times without any response. Their website doesn't list a phone number to call, and the owner, Dirk Martin, hasn't posted here since 2005 as far as I can tell. The order I want is a good $9 cheaper than the next closest vendor I can... -
I have the Dremel 1800 and find it to be a fair entry level scroll saw. It has worked well for me so far. I don't tend to use it much, as I do more on the lathe, but I'm trying to moderate my time better between the two. I do like the 6" sanding disc on the Dremel as well.

They work with 5 and 8 hole units as well. I tried using the course one on the unfaced edge of my countertop (particle board and the thin edge of laminate on the top) and ended up breaking the cutters on the outer edge of the disc. The package does say bare wood only, so I'm not holding this against...Leave a comment:

They send out emails with specials on them, and they usually include a new surprise packet. The email will show one of the patterns from the packet, so you have some idea of what is in it. Sometimes, later in the month, they'll send another email, and show a different pattern from the same pack. ...Leave a comment:

So far my Dremel 1800 is doing great by me. I really like the sanding disk on the side as well.

Another source of problem would be the bottom blade holder allowing the blade to move left to right as the blade moves up and down. Try running the saw without cutting and watch the blade, does it run true or wiggle side to side? If it wiggles, check your manual for adjustments to eliminate this....Leave a comment:

It looks great, and I too like the color of the backer.
As for the hunt, I'd say the first feather (far right) and counting from there to the left, feather number 4, the one before the really short one.
