    Al Baggetta's snakes

Al, your snakes are just delightful and very easy to cut. I drilled the holes, cut the two sides of the block but found that the snakes did not come out of their den. I got them to come out by cutting into from both the head and tail ends.

You are right Will, I did very well at the first show of the season on Oct. 23rd and am looking forward to the next two shows. I am currently cutting replacements for some of the items I sold at that show.

NC, good luck on Nov. 6th. As Will said, bring lots of stuff. People really have...

  • Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! and all that. Glad you came through it with your sense of humor intact. I am sure that you will be back scrolling as well as ever.
I can also appreciate the amount of pain you went through because as a teen-ager, I completely dislocated my elbow and with my other hand, bent...

Thanks for all the responses to my dilemma. I really appreciate your suggestions and will definitely use them as best I can. Perhaps my biggest problem is that some items, like tray puzzles and trivets do not lend themselves to an attractive display. I have actually taken to only putting out a few...

what to bring to a show

I make a very large variety of things because I get bored with scrolling the same old same old. Therefore, what I should bring to a show is always a dilemma. It seems that if I bring something I think will sell, it doesn't but if I leave it home, at least two people want to buy it. At some shows...

    two shows in northern NJ

I have two craft shows coming up; Nov. 12-13 at St. Ann's Church, Parsippany, and Dec 4 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Rockaway. It is a good feeling to be able to get back to seeing people and selling stuff.

  • Like millwab, I get mine from Cherry Tree/Wildwood which has both 1/8" and 1/4" poplar ply. I like the 1/4 for puzzles. You can contact them at or 1-8oo-848-4363

    arborvitae wood

I have a lot of dried arborvitae wood that I plan to mill up into boards. I also have plans for small toy rubber band boats that have some painted parts. I know it is highly resistant to water rot damage, but...Does anyone know if arborvitae wood can be painted with acrylic craft paint? I can seal...

Thanks for the info Denny. When I cut acrylic I always use a skip tooth blade at a slower speed. I just did not realize that the epoxy would cut the same way as acrylic so I followed the materials list in the article.

OK folks, picture. I finally figured out how to upload a picture. Here is one each of my version of the oak and cherry boxes. Note the axle peg holding the top in place but allowing it to move.

    compoud cut autumn leaves

Thanks for another neat pattern. I cut Clayton Meyers 4 patterns from a length of 1 1/4" cherry stock, mixed up some epoxy with added transparent color ( I used red, yellow, orange and sand) and filled the spaces. I did not use one color in each leaf but poured some of each colored epoxy in...

    tooth fairy box

I love David Pollatta's tooth fairy box. It is perfect for my 8 year old grandson who lost 2 teeth in a week this summer. I made three of them out of a scrap piece of oak stair tread with an oak lid and 5 from an irregular scrap piece of 5/4 cherry with a cherry lid. I think I will give a few of...
