  • I have this pattern and the mechanical butterfly bookmarked to purchase. I cut a mechanical heart and really liked how it turned out even though I used cheap plywood. With the mechanical heart, I told my wife that it wouldn't take long to cut... boy was I wrong with that lol. =) Those gears take quite...

  • I really like the style of your work Joel. The contouring is fantastic and it has the type of artistic look I would happily stick on my wall. Very nice work! Thanks for sharing.

On the Oregon coast in Depoe Bay Oregon. While there is a tiny bay in Depoe Bay, most of it is just shoreline for the Pacific Ocean, and that is where we are. Lots of places to potentially sell craft work if I ever decided to do that. Right now I have been instructed to fill the house up. ...

    My new mini-shop

No, it isn't the dream shop that has floated through my head in the past, but just a little mini-shop at the beach so I can scroll on the weekends (or vacations). All it has is my scroll saw, shop vac, small drill press and little fan. AND... it comes with a beach house. The projects are packaged...

The pattern is in Intarsia Woodworking for Beginners by Kathy Wise. I wondered myself about the dark windows, and the grey sky =) I it isn't supposed to be night, just daytime with clouds, but I did ponder for a moment whether I should make the lights yellow. There is still time to change them. I think...

Interesting thanks. I was looking for Western Red Cedar, but they didn't have any. Lumber stores are like Costco, you get what you get and you don't throw a fit. ...

    Lighthouse in work

This is the second time I made this pattern... and my wife wanted four more for various friends and neighbors. I have them all cut, but just started the finishing process on this one. I was going for a cloudy Oregon day. I will do at least one more this way and then I may switch to a lighter color for...

Yes, in downtown Portland Oregon. I live about 1/2 hour away. There are really only two major options I am aware of, and then some smaller choices....

Yeah I wasn't that impressed with the color of the bloodwood. Maybe the color will come out with sanding. I wasn't going to buy the Padauk, but I looked at the bloodwood and thought I may need it....

You are doing just fine... =) Jatoba, Birch, Red Gum, Yellow Heart, Padauk, Bloodwood, Tennessee Red Cedar

I picked it up at Crosscut Hardwoods I think the total was around $260 =(. I don't really like trips to the lumber stores so I try to stock up for awhile. The last time I stocked...

  • Soon I will spend two weeks on nothing but my DeWalt, so it will be interesting to compare. I did notice the DeWalt has more room on the table in front of the blade than the Jet, and I definitely like that. The table is wider around the blade too, and I like that also. I am sure there will be other...
