788's banging is due to some adjustment is my recollection. There's a site (can't recall the address - google it) with a handful of helpful hints for the 788. here it is:

That will work and you can buy a very bright CFL light (it says 825 lumens on the package in your picture). The light sags under its own weight already though, and now you can get intermediate base LED lights that will fit "as is".

I built a stand from wood and used U-shaped pipe clamps/brackets to hold PVC pipe (around 2" diameter) to it. I used a 45 degree piece of PVC (just above the stand, a few inches below the table) to angle the PVC up...Leave a comment:

That's a good tip - I'll try my smaller blades. I haven't used my Delta 690 (same as the 788) very much and hate the way it turns (doesn't turn actually). I probably "force it" (push sideways) is why more than anything. Have to get better at rotating the wood around the blade.Leave a comment:

scroll saw sale on amazon
On their front page they have a link to today's holiday sales. In there the Dewalt saw is shown as being on sale later today ($463 is the current price). I have the Delta version sinc it was cheaper yet had the longer warrantee and stand, but maybe this sale will be worthwhile. -
