I know this is not what you asked about, but going with the other contributor's thoughts, just print out the name you want to copy, take it to the local library(its cheaper than doing it your sefl) and make it the size you want. Thats my technique and I even have the plastic lettering stencils. The big...

lantern that goes with small carved santa
I've seen some lantern patterns around that goes with small carved figures, but when I want one, can't seem to find where they are. I'm looking for a 'bay window' type(flat front, mutlisided, point at top and bottom). I hope my description at least triggers a vision of what I need. Where can I find a cutting...

cutting 1 1/2" thick pcs on scroll saw
Marsha,I gladly defer to your expertise and will slink back into my cave. My Hegner is much too slow for 1" + cutting . I've tried cutting 2" thick on an old Atlas 24" jig saw,but the result was a convex cut . pw...

To find suitable copper,go to the big box stores and ask for flashing. You can cut it sandwiched, but it will require clean up and of course,a zero table insert(probably the sandwich material will cover this). As has been stated, its mostly too soft and gummy. New scroll saw
Why not that new model excaliber-N021 I believe. Read some reports on www.scrollsaw.com-seems the excaliber and eclipse come out on top, hegner third, and dewalt follows with rbi bringing up the rear of the top saws.

Hello
I too would like to know more about the excaliber scroll saw. What is the Dewalt connection,as it seems to have the same type of drive mechanism. Did Dewalt buy the patent or did it just run out? I really like my Hegner, but I always wanted to use an excaliber and see if I liked...

Not to slight any mfg,I prefer a Hegner,BUT... an R B I is also nice as is the Excaliber. I think theres a custom saw that is wonderful but pricey. You will not go wrong with any of the above, some are easier with blade changes-you WILL be making plenty,piercing...
