Post some pictures of the Buffalo. A google search didn't find the saw in question.
Other than that, you just have to take a scrap piece of wood and try out the Buffalo. If you like it, then use it and return the Ryobi and buy like $120 worth of Walnut(my favorite wood) or some other...

Did you remember to set the tension? Also try adjusting the set screws so that they do not bend the blade while being screwed in and insures that you cut the same on top as on the bottom of your wood. A little of center isn't the end of the world(to me at least, others would go nuts over it), just...

From what I can tell, the Milwuake Sawzall is the go to tool as far as reciprocating saws go. As for which exact model I have no idea.

For $200, you might want to check craigslist for a DW788. Great saw. It is a 20". Takes plain end blades. The best part is that it has little vibration.
I never used the PC, but it's a newer version of the Hitachi, without a cast iron table.

Oh, they haven't started production, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see if they fix the issues of blade alignment, table flatness, etc.
On a similar note, any idea on when we can start seeing some reviews(coinciding with a release date) from scrollsawer magazine as well as other...

I take it the 40-695, will not have the quality control issues that the DeWalt Type 2 and it's clone the 40-690 had?

At $200 for a new motor, you should try craigslist. You can get a complete saw for usually $200 to $300. If you're lucky, I've even seen one sell for $75.

I brought a type 1 with stand and light for $250. The only issue is that the blade is not centered in the table. There are ways of fixing it. I've read that you can take a file and make the hole bigger or widening the screw slots on the tilt mechanism. Other than that it works fine. I haven't used...

The blade isn't a spiral. It's just one of the blades that I received with the saw. I have ordered the assortment pack from Mike's(don't have it yet), so hopefully a different blade would help.
Does it matter that I shrunk the pattern or should that have no bearings on the end result...

First Project
This is the welcome sign from the scrollsawer website. It is shrunk to a 1/4 of the page as opposed the whole page. As a result some of the areas became really fragile and even the slightest deviation from the line cut them off.
Later on, I'll try the full size pattern and see how I do....Last edited by Michael Moscicki; 01-05-2012, 12:32 PM.

General Questions
It's a DeWalt DW788 Type 1 by the way.
1) Is it normal/ok for the table to have what appear to be cuts in it?
2) Any tips to remove those marks?
3) The table has a wax/oil/paste on it. Any sawdust and small pieces stick to...

Scroll Saw Blades
Just got a Type 1 DW788 and while it came with 7 blades, I need some more blades. I will be getting FD blades, but not sure which ones I need. Is the assortment pack what I should get or maybe blades specific for my projects?
My projects:
1) Pinewood Derby Cars
2) Various...

DeWalt Scroll Saw Gloat
After scouring Craiglist and Ebay for a month, I finally managed to nab a Type 1 Canadian made DeWalt DW788. Paid $250 for it. Came with the stand, light, and some extra blades. The only downside is that I had to make a long drive from NYC to the Poconos.
Didn't really feel like using...Last edited by Michael Moscicki; 12-29-2011, 08:51 AM.
