Excaliber saw on the DFW craigslist

If anyone in the DFW area is looking for a new saw, there is a 19" Excalibur on the local craigslist for $299. This is not my saw, and I know nothing about it, but the price seemed pretty good if anyone is interested.

If the workmate doesn't work out for you, take a look at the Husky portable work stand at Home Depot if there is one near you. It is a square top with X shaped legs and is extremely sturdy and also folds up nicely when you don't need it.

    Found a home for it

Thanks to all for your suggestions. I was able to get in contact with a local guy who runs a non-profit day care center for mentally handicapped adults and teaches them to scroll saw as part of their activities. I gave the saw to him for use in his program, where...

    Thanks, Sharon

I appreciate the sentiment. That's why I was hoping to find someone in the area who would like a saw, but maybe can't afford it right now. I hadn't thought about care centers - I'll look into that if nobody steps forward and wants the saw. I certainly got my money's...

    Delta SS250 - Dallas area

I upgraded to a DW788 last year and my trusty SS250 has just been sitting, gathering dust (and taking up valuable space). It's a good basic saw and I would like to see it go to a good home. If you know of anyone who needs a basic saw in the area but may be on a tight budget, I would be happy to donate...

    Fretwork sanding

I have been using a set of small files I got from Sloan's Woodshop (at least that's where I think I got them). They get the job done, but you're right - it can get a bit tedious

    Be careful with online purchase

Lot's of the lower prices you see online are for gray market cameras which don't carry US factory warranties. If you do decide to buy online, make sure just what warrranty comes with the camera - whether it is the manufacturer's or whether it is some third...

Try Lowes or Home Depot for Cedar

Take a look at some wide cedar fence boards at your local big box store. Some of them have pretty nice grain and with a fair amount of sanding, are not too espensive. I'm not a huge cedar fan, since it is so soft, but have scrolled some in the past...

  • I thought it was just me!

Tony, thanks for this information. I changed over from a Delta 250 to the Dewalt last summer and have been constantly frustrated by the low tolerance for blade postioning. I can just barely get the blade to catch in both clamps due to the vertical spacing between...

  • Dust Blower on SS250

I had an SS250 for a couple of years before recently buying a DeWalt. The 250 was a good saw, but the blower is probably it's weakest part. Unless the saw was running at top speed, I just could not get enough air out of it to keep the line clear. My solution was...
