hey little sister and all,
seen i was missed, so decided to drop in with hat in hand and beg forgiveness for running off to the carving side of the fox chapel forums,
carving santas and cowboys is more to my skills, i only use my scrollsaw when i need to...

Sorry i have been mistreating my scrolling friends by not stopping in and making them listen to my redredic

i dont own a drill doctor, in industrial machiene shop class we had to sharpen all the bits on a bench grinder by hand, to get out of apprentistship, so i didnt feel the need for one until i got old and eye site got deminished..\ wish i would have got one but almost nobody had good responce on the tool....

i have the 1860 dremel
as far as for lubricarion my manual says to turn the saw on its side then pull the rubber plug on the arm and fill the small cavity with non detergent 30 weight motor oil, and replace cap let the saw set overnight,
next day turn saw over to the other side...

Carl that must be why meds are cheaper in Canada than the USA.. every bottle i have 19 precipitons come with them little dryer canisters in them, usually causes me to fling pills every which way trying to get the pills past them,,

i guess the cast iron tops are much like the old cast iron skillits, once you keep enough protectant on them they stop rusting as long as you dont let it get wet..
both my saws have this problem inherent to cast iron tables, from perspiration in the summer off my hands,

dale i agree,
i wouldn't sacrifice a $800.00 scroll saw to corian projects, unless the profit margin would buy me a new saw immediately...
as far as heating plexiglass with a torch, its so critical between melt and boil, if you boil the molten Plexiglas's edges it bubbles...

Dale and all in the controversial issue of using cooling fluid when cutting corian,
I don't know the property's of corian but it being a urethane or plastic base the biggest problem would be speed which builds friction heat, it apparently has some kind of stone or abrasive impregnated...

Thanks folks, for the great responses on this subject. it was driving me nuts...
so this stuff sounds like working with Lexine or Plexiglas basically. keep it slow progress or cool or lubricared...
too bad scroll saws wont work with a cooling...

Need Info for working with corian
Hi all, yep i'm still alive,
i got a bug in my ear about making carving knife handles out of corian...
i have tried to rid myself of this idea but it keeps on bugging me.
I am suppose to have a box of corian scraps being sent from my sisters cabinet shop....
