    Your guys are fantastic, Colin!!

By the way, tattoos are a matter of perspective - I have one, and I don't think it's spoiled my skin at all :-)

    Cottonwood Bark!

Boy, I just gotta say this: I had no idea what wonders carving cottonwood bark would hold. It took some time for me to really understand the bark - its differences, working with its layers, etc. - but I'm so glad I kept looking and working at it. I've found a sort of creative 'link' with nature...

Or.....just throw that wood away and grab the bark, instead!! I'm with Art (the Bark Guy, the Prince of Barkness, my own Art Therapist) on this one...bark is better.

Re: What does strop compound do?

Yellow? White? Pink?? Arrrggghhhh!!!! I wish I knew enough about all this sharpening stuff to make an educated decision as to what works best for me. I've used the yellow from Flexcut, and now I have some white, because I had to buy it while I was out...

I have a similar warp in my head. My doctor was just saying the same thing the other day....'Can I straighten it out?'

    Doubt it.

I think someone talked about this once before on this board. Interesting idea, but I don't remember any pics. Does anyone have pics of these carved yams?

    Re: sharpening flex tools

Yup, I'm all for paying someone ELSE to sharpen my tools. I will continue to work at it, and maybe someday I'll be a sharpener....but I don't see it happening any too soon.

Just tonight I ruined the edge on one of my favorite gouges trying to sharpen...

Hmmmm...sounds like a much better plan. I kind of liked just kicking back in your backyard and chatting while you went to work sharpening all my tools! I could just consider it another 'tool' :-)

LOL, don't be sad, Art. I know what you mean about the bark magic, even though I haven't been too successful with it so far. Before I started carving, I used to paint my guys on 'found' objects, such as cypress knees, fenceposts, driftwood, etc. So I did find that 'magic'...
