    Hi Paul,

Glad to hear that your wife was understanding. Also glad that you didn't actually try to keep it a secret from her

You missed all of the rain at the campground Saturday night. We met some folks for breakfast on Sunday morning and informed them that we had the two...

    Hi Kevin,

Yes, you can nuke wood to dry it, but be careful. It is real easy to set it on fire in the microwave too. Heat for about a minute (or less) and then take out and let it cool down. Lay it on some paper towels to help soak up any moisture while it is cooling. Also check for bugs...

  • My hubby has been having conniptions with Home Depot and the quality of their plywood. The last 3/4" that he bought varied in thickness from 1/2" to 5/8" thick. He has talked to them and apparently they are having all of their plywood manufactured in the orient (we send them the wood,...

Scrolled tagua nuts are gorgeous, especially as jewelry. It looks like old ivory when it is all polished up.

You can make a jig to hold a nut securely so you can make your own slices. I've seen it done, but I couldn't describe that jig to save my soul. Perhaps someone else has one and...

    Hi Cathy,

The weather sounds like you are getting a second whammy of a lot of snow on top of that ice. What are you doing for heat? and cooking? It's been a long time since I've been in a really bad ice storm. Not to discourage you, but the last one I was in took down so many electric poles...

  • CA glue works well with corian. You can see some examples of corian that has been glued up here. Might be inspiring.

You can also contact Barry Gross at BGArtforms for info on working with corian or Janice Manuel at True Cut Blades. They both do a lot with corian.

    I haven't...

  • I was told that the original request was for a fund raiser they have in November. But they would also like to include these in a store that is open year round as a fund raiser for Breast Cancer. You can write and ask for specifics, I really don't know much more than this. Sorry.

    Hi Bill,

We've been empty nesters for over 10 years now. As each one left for college we started changing their bedrooms into some other purpose room. Two of them came home for a bit after college, but were anxious to get back out on their own. Our rules were way too restrictive for them...

  • Hi Rolf,

Yes, the rest is up to you. You can do as much or as little as you like. And thank you for helping out with this project.

The patterns were originally published in the 2005 Holiday issue of Scroll Saw Workshop. The article included color directions for different...

Sorry for my delay in answering you here, I just got back to the office today.

  • I don't think there is a standard wood thickness. Most of them are 1/4" or less just to have less weight on tree branches. I am going to cut mine out of plywood just because I think the design is delicate enough to not work out real well with hardwood. You can stain the rest of the wood as you...

Scroller help wanted for charity project

    Hi All,

Ms. Barbara Hensley operates Hope Chest for Breast Cancer in the Twin Cities area (MN). Ms. Hensley is interested in having some Christmas ornaments cut for a fundraiser in November, and for sale in their Hope Chest for Breast Cancer Retail Store.

    The patterns were...

  • You want to try drilling at a larger angle than what your table is set for.

The thing to try for is to have the drill hole in the waste side of the top board and the bottom board. Which means inside of the part being removed on top and outside of the part that will be inlaid on the bottom....

    Hi Sue,

No Problem on the SAW page. Just send me some pictures (prefereably with one of you in there) and I will take care of creating the page. We have recently added some pictures from England and Denmark in the World Gallery.
