Saw won't start! (EX-16
I have an Excalibur EX-16 that is about ten years old. Recently the saw at times would be slow to start when flipping the switch, and now will only start every 8-10 times (and after waiting up to 10 seconds at that). Thinking it was the switch, I took the top black plastic casing off, and checked... -
Magazine pattern database?
I've been around for a while, but very rarely get chance to get on the forums here. Forgive me if this questions has been asked a million times, but does the SSW&C keep any sort of a database of patterns and their magazine location? I'd love to see that. It seems to me I DID see it once here,... -

I live in QUispamsis, New Brunswick Canada (a suburb of Saint John), and the saw was bought at Canadian Tire. There is very little selection beyond the basic, intro. level saws that can't cut straight, and are made of mostly plastic parts. *Sigh!*Leave a comment:

Seizing Saw?
My Mastercraft Maximum scroll saw, which has always had a bit more vibration than I would like (better saws are simply not in the budget), suddenly seemed to seize up tonight. It's only six months old, and is used about 6 hours a week. It was making what I can best describe as a "knocking"...Last edited by wood-n-things; 10-06-2011, 10:09 PM. -
I use a free level app on my iPhone (made by Stanley tools) that get me the same exactness of angle. I've found it very useful, though it does require making sure the phone doesn't get covered in sawdust!Leave a comment:

Pattern for "Solid Celtic Cross" from Fall 2011 Issue
I loved seeing the great project by Ron Tremback called "Solid Celtic Cross" that appeared in the Fall 2011 issue of SSWC. I'd love to get a copy of the pattern, if it is available. Anyone know if this is so? -
Porter Cable Scroll Saw in Canada?
Since my old Mastercraft saw died, I have been trying to find the Porter Cable Scroll Saw (mentioned in the buyers' guide in 2010) here in Canada. No one seems to know much about it, including a Porter Cable rep (??!?!?!). Anyone know anything about it? Their website lists it as PCB370SS. Help! -

Vibrations (not the good ones)
I am wondering if there is a way to lessen the vibration on my scroll saw. Admittedly, a have a low-end model, a Delta 16" variable speed, which is bolted to a set of legs, and sits on a fairly level concrete floor. I do not want to bolt in to the floor. Any tips or ideas I can try? -
plane first, or glue first?
I have a pattern to scroll that requires two pieces to be glued together to make the needed width, and also planed for thickness (maple, down to 3/8"). I've done both, but never together? Any ideas on which one to do first? My thought is to glue first, so that any imperfections could be planed... -
scroll saw table coating?
Hi all... I wanted to know if there is anything out there that I could put on my scroll saw table that would enable the wood to slide along it a bit more smoothly. I thought about paraffin wax, but that didn't seem to work well. Any ideas?
