Cutting and splitting wood is not easy and not everyone can do it. But just for me, that's what I do to save money and end up with a good piece of wood. For me, why burn a good piece of wood when I can make something from it? As far as safety goes, I use wedges and sledge...Leave a comment:

I never had much luck drying wood. I know there are several ways to do it but even the polyglycol (sp) that I bought never worked as good as advertised. I get a very large stump and let it sit out of the weather and let it air dry for a year and then split it...Leave a comment:

I went to the local lumber yard. Asked the guy if he had 2x4, 4x4, and 6x6. He told me,'We don't sell lumber here. Good Bye.' Now isn't that astonishing?!! I have bougth lumber there since the '70's'.

All good advise. I use small rubber wheels that can be purchased by mail from any Dental Supply. Do a web search for the places that sell dental tools. I haven't ordered any for a long time as they last many years. If you have one of those old rubber erasers made...Leave a comment:
