hi, catlyn! we in AR have SURELY felt the economic pinch! i would think that artists/crafters such ourselves are the first to know when the economy is slowing down. the disposable income people used to have, well, .... btw, i'm from Morrilton. wouldn't mind sharing some wood with ya if you're even close...

Montana Mike and JimS, thank you!! uh, men really DON'T read/view instructions :-). i WILL try again. i've always thought that was cool and i have some really nice contrasting wood (less than i used to have!). i have a show this weekend but will put da duck at the top of next week's list!

okay, guys, i admit it--i tried it. i thought the pattern was so cool yet sooo simple. i cut it and the "top" part won't fit into the "bottom" part. not sure that's clear but you would think putting them together and cutting a line through them would make them fit together. didn't...

good morning, mike. i had the same saw and the SAME problem a couple of years back. i replaced it with a Big Yeller Saw and haven't looked back. i could NOT believe the difference. i'd recommend getting the Dewalt (they won't get any cheaper) and be amazed. you'll even notice you do better work on a...

hey, doug! like Montana Mike i'd LOVE to use a branding iron 'cause it think it would look too cool, but can't turn loose of that much money. instead i have a stamp with my name, the company name (Flyin' Pig) and my home town. don't remember the cost of it but the ink lasts forevvvver and it's professional...

uh, oh. shoulda asked! i glued one 3/4" x 4" board of maple, cedar, and walnut together (one on top of the other) using Tite Bond glue. after it dried i resawed it (put it on the bandsaw just like it was glued together and cut the edges off) and sanded the now 1 1/2" x 3/32" bookmarks....

thanks for your quick responses, fellas! so, i'm assuming going ahead and cutting it out WOULD leave cracks/cuts that are too noticeable. one day, in my next life, i'll try the spiral blades again :-). AND, ya caught me, mike. of course it's a 788. didn't know i was deslexic but have always wondered...

to cut or not to cut
my wife has been saying for years, "you need help!" well, now i KNOW i do. i bought a wonderful pattern of a mare and colt in a corral from wildwood design. i didn't notice that it was a BIG pattern (18"x23"), but after i got it i HAD to cut it. after i taped the three 8 1/2"x11"...

help with dw788 vibration
morning, gang,
my "ole yellar" saw has been in its new box since december and i FINALLY was able to get it out to play yesterday. everything went well until i turned up the speed to five and there is a SERIOUS vibration from 5 on up and it gets worse the faster it goes. i'm talkin' BIG...

good morning, c,
i started out with that saw and liked it. i worked it hard for a year until the "linkage" began to slip. i don't know if that was a problem with all those saws or just mine. it's been so long now i can't remember the particular connection between the motor and the "drive...

morning, nicholas,
i tell people that i've been married twice and that makes me either an expert on marriage or proves i have NO idea about marriage. that being said, i've done a few craft shows so that makes me an expert or proves i have NO idea what i'm doing.
i will, however,...

morning, or afternoon, troops!
can anyone help me with patterns for oven pulls? i'm getting ready for this year's craftshows and want some less expensive items. the basic principle is simple but i wanted something more than just a plain pull, like a fish/snake/etc. i'll be glad to send...

John! excellent!! i always am intrigued by how others do what they do. i actually have two large posters to mount and was wondering the best method. i WILL try this. would love to have that cup of coffee with ya and talk shop. i'll drop by for the coffee as soon as i can drive out there--i don't fly...
