+1 on the Michaels craft paint, really cheaper and works well.
My last batch of flocking was from Welcome to www.fowlflocker.com and it was much cheaper than Donjer.
I would suggest practicing on a couple non-commercial boxes or drawers first. You will find a couple things;...

I picked up a grey rigid 14" with new balanced tires last fall. Grizzly riser, woodslicer blade and a little tweaking has it working well with some patience. The standard motor 3/4 hp motor is adequate with patience. Your lead screw feed is something that I am going to have to really look into...

I went to a long running 4 day juried show in SE Michigan this summer. There was a older guy selling silk and linen clothing. My daughter noticed that a couple of the boxes his inventory were in showed international shipping company labels. All the specific information parts of the labels were cut...

I drive 40 miles each way to Kencraft and have bought from them for couple years. Board feet can save significant money at the lumber mills. My local HD has poplar for the equivalent of $6.50 per board foot, while lumber millls like Kencraft sells poplar for $2.50 a board foot. Usually the board...

We had a lot of those coming through the establish shows this year. Interestingly they were all females.
Another trend was people wanting "represent" crafters to designers and stores. Most of these were males. It was obvious they didn't understand the margins most were...

Around me there are two major problems, which have been noted above.
Local communities and civic groups are holding more and more weekend/weekday "craft" fairs. Some are low vendor turnout and not much choice. The larger number of them seem to be competing for the same number...

We are probably going to move in the next 90 days and I am seriously considering a split of the woodworking tools. Right now it is all in the garage (no cars in it) with heater. Not bad, but heating an entire garage to work in 20 square feet sometimes seems a bit of a waste.
My thought...

I got one about 3 weeks ago and only use the belt portion. The original intent was to sand the sides of 3+ inch tall boxes to make the top and bottom more even after putting the hinges on plus the sides being 90 degrees to the bottom. Works great for that. Spindles are in a box somewhere.

I have a sliding compound miter and table saw, but don't have the same fear of them as the band saw. Probably should respect all of them the same.

If you go to Judy Roberts site : About Judy Gale Roberts and Jerry Booher
Judy talks about Jerry Booher; "He became an expert on the band saw, so much so, that people would swear he did the sawing on a scroll saw. He really perked up when people would ask if he used a laser beam...

About a year ago I went by the rack and saw 4 boards of pine. Boards were 12" wide, 10' long and not twisted. they were on the rack because they were spalted and didn't look clean enough. I made some nice looking boxes from them.

I buy rough sawn basswood in 10' lengths and 10" width, so 1,200 square inches. I pay to have it jointed and planed at the mill. I get about 4 boards from one roll of tape after allowing for end checking, knots and other places to avoid. I can get 12 puzzles easy out of one board. So, doing...

A friend that I emailed sent me a link to eBay where they sell "fitted table cover." You can get all four sides that cover down to the ground or three sides with only six inched down in the back so you can sit there. Seems like a couple of permanent vendors and they focus on people doing...Last edited by Steve_S; 10-03-2012, 06:10 PM.
