Just outlines not enough room to cut names/capitals. Names and capitals can be lettered on rather easily. I've cut a couple like that but the teacher did the lettering. so I can't supply a photo

    replied to Large puzzle
I have used spiral blades to make initial cuts to bring down to a usable size then switch to puzzle blades. Take care in cutting tabs to mot make them too large. John stokes used a method of stack cutting but I have never really figured it out. I believe he still has that on his site but don't remember...

replied to Very long scroll saw patterns
After you get your pattern attach it how you prefer I use either clear contact paper then spray glue the pattern on or blue painters tape then apply the pattern. Drill any access holes that are needed. Get supports that can reach from one end of your 8 foot board to the other with your saw in the middle....

replied to A lesson learned! Dehydration warning.
I was always told if you don't have to pee at least every hour get in the shade and drink until you have to go. Several years of Boy Scout camp in 95+ temps and several boys treated for dehydration later I really trust it was correct. As adults the temptation to have an adult beverage is nat a good...

    replied to Scrolling with Cardboard
Any Patterns could be used with "real" wood, As far as cardboard goes the company I work for takes 2 tractorr trailer loads to recycling every day and we still have at least 1/2 load left on site. Save a Tree reuse some cardboard. We also sent 2 or 3 truck loads of pallets to recyclers every...

    replied to Coloring Wood question
Try using alcohol instead of water it evaporates much faster and does not cause as much swelling. Shellac can be dyed but i'm not sure if rit will work . A small can of shellac is only a few dollars and you only have to dye a small amount to do a test.
    Just my thoughts.

Instead of water use WD-40 or some light oil 3in1, mineral ect. They will do the same thing as the water without the rust.

Light coat of rubber cement to only one side of pattern, cut the piece as soon as the cement sets, remove with dry fingers. NOT FOOLPROOF test with the paper you are using. I use another page fron the same calender.

  • Roundover router bit in a Dremel router table also works and gives a very even roundover.I have only used this a couple times as I usually make everything fron 1/4 or thicker.
