  • Rolf, What happens is they have needle bearings with a sleeve insert.. The bearing gets dry of grease and soon starts hammering the bearing and sleeve together.. This makes the sleeve end up with needle bearing hammer marks on the sleeve.. so it'd be best to replace the sleeve as well.. No different...

  • That works well for me and have always done it this way. However, I took my Excalibur apart and my issue isn't getting the bearings. I have those but, I can't find the right size sleeve / inserts for the bearings. Local bearing supply which has always been great to work in the past can't help me ou...

  • Bob, I've been throwing the idea around of buying a Pegas.. I currently have one of those China disasters called Excalibur.. I bought it before I learned they moved to China.. nothing but issues with it.. Anyway long story..

    My question is.. and I'm assuming it is but thought I'd ask.....

    Rolf I wasn't talking about your Hawk.. Maybe I read your post wrong because I thought it said you was cutting some larger stuff and top feeding wasn't working for you on the Excalibur so you switched to cutting on the Hawk..

    I was merely trying to say that you need to just run the EX...

    Just my perspective here as I've run many different styles and brands of saws over the years mainly production cutting fretwork.

    My thought on this is, First off, neither of you have even owned / used either saw long enough to get used to the saw and create a "muscle memory"....
