That is interesting. I did a search for 7mm thread pitches and found there is only one, 1.0mm (see attached image).

When you say "my 5/16 taps won’t fit", I assume you mean both 18 and 24 pitch.
That leaves you with a bit of a dilemma.

    Can you...

    Thanks for the comments.

I'm calling this done enough, for now. I put one coat of finish on last night and when I went to put another, it had gelled. Nothing available locally, so I'll have to order it, which is why I'm calling it done for now. I'll post another photo of what my granddaughter...

I couldn't stand it. I had to put a floor on it.

It is a piece from the same block of wood but from a different direction of grain. I was surprised how well I was able to get the grain to match, at least near the front where the door is.

    Rick...

Here is the finished or nearly finished box. It has two coats of Tung Oil and I could stop here with some steel wool. I wish I had been thinking when I started this as it does not have a floor and it would have been easy to slice off the bottom, similar to the back to make a floor. As it is, the front...

I am curious about the differences you speak of here. I have a new DW788. Are the clamps on it different than the "original" design?

Looking at the clamps that came on my 788, they are about 0.312" thick at the base, where the tension screws are. My new Pegas clamps are...

  • This is a pretty old thread. Have there been more recent "developments" not captured here?

I saw somewhere a photo of a SC that had a table with holes in it near the blade. That seems like a good idea if there is suction from below. I wonder how well it works without, as the...

I'm doing some practice using scrap Douglas fir 4x4. I used the bandsaw to cut the scroll/key pattern on the front and the slice off the back of the main box and to find out how the bandsaw performs with such thick cuts.
Since I'm using this as practice for making the Owl/Pyramid box puzzle,...

    Owl Box Puzzle

A bit over a year ago, I returned from a scuba diving trip to Belize with two gifts for my granddaughter. One was an owl/pyramid box puzzle. At the time I had no sense that I'd be at a place where I could make such a thing, but I believe I am there now. I have the scroll saw and a bandsaw set up...

  • Material Hold Down / Blade Guard on DeWalt 788

I'm not liking the way the material hold down works on the DW788. It contacts wood being sawn about an inch forward of the blade and is too often not in contact with the wood when the edge of the wood is closer to the blade than that inch. I think I'd prefer one that has a contact point at the location...

  • sawmill101,

Interesting. I did not receive any tensioning information with my TW blades (1/4" and 3/8") and do not find any on their website. I have emailed TW for advice. It will be interesting, as my 1960 Powermatic 140 (14") bandsaw lacks any tensioning guide or scale....

  • I am new to scroll sawing but not to woodworking. Even so, it was only since getting started in scroll sawing that I had the need for rounding and sanding corners of contours, especially such tight internal contours. I learned of sanding mops, but only of the large style as mentioned earlier in this...

  • tgiro01,

Thanks. I still enjoy watching Alex, even though he reminds me a little of a carnival hawker selling slice-n-dicers That is how I learned of the Stabilizer Guide and decided to get it. It is installed and set up as he describes, although it appears to me he pushes it a bit more...

  • I received today the Carter Stabilizer Guide (http://www.carterproducts.com/band-s...saw-stabilizer) and a Carter "AccuRight 1/8" wide x 14 tpi bandsaw blade that I had ordered. I set them up and tried them out. Setup of the guide was a breeze, but I am having trouble getting the blade to...
