Got the same Midi dust extractor.

Festool had a road show at the tool store where my son works, so I had a good chance to see all the different models, as well a getting a free tee shirt (size small!) and bag.

Works great with the sander, and I also use it with the Hegner...

What I like about my Festool sander-midi dust extractor combo is the instant turnoff of the vac when I stop sanding. It's also nice not to have a workbench full of sawdust! I also like the roominess of the systainer, which I still think is a pompous name for a box for a tool. Sort of like a special...

Thanks, Rolf. I never was a "girly girl". My father wanted sons, but got 3 daughters instead.

Are you saying that the newer Wixeys have an absolute level feature, like a spirit level? That's pretty neat. I'm impressed by what Barry Wixey has come up with, and his dedication...

Scott, for the Hegner, or any saw with a tilting table, you can use the same method with a slight adaptation.

Square the blade and the table first, using an engineer's square. Next, place the Wixey on the table facing front, turn it on and zero it out. Finally, tilt the table, using the...

Scott, you beat me to it. Might be time to revive the old tradition, even if we use Facebook for the info.

All the best, Rolf, and if you can't eat cake, how about a candle on your birthday smoothie? 😉

My guess is that all the small spaces between pieces add up, and also give the finished puzzle a more irregular outline than the pattern. Maybe a slightly greater enlargement of the outline will work. I think the profile, if you trace it, is likely to vary, just because of random shifts in the pieces....

A bracket for a "safety lock" for a scroll saw that is intended to be used with a foot pedal (included) ranks right up there with a lower blade guard to protect you in case you decide to use the saw with your hands under the table. Not to mention a dust collection system that sucks your workpiece...

Betty, the Wixey has its own magnets on the bottom, so all you need is a piece of metal. That's what the L bracket is for. I just put the DRO on the horizontal arm when I want to use it, and remove it when I don't. The bracket is adequately held by the single bolt, and nothing is altered on the machine....

Kiwi, the top arm is some type of plastic, so the magnets won't stick. It's also beveled on the sides, so even if I wanted to mount it with double-sided tape, there's not sufficient width. This way, I can remove it when it's needed elsewhere, which is often.

The Jet is a bottom feeder,...

It works quite well, once you get used to the clamping system. I thought it would be a lot easier for steep angled cuts than the tilting table, but the Hegner handles those just as well. I'm curious to see how well the DRO works, and was glad that it was so easy to retrofit.

    Also,...

Now the Jet has a DRO!

One 1-1/2" L bracket cut to size, one small bolt, nut and lock washer. Not too bad for a girl! 😊

  • Actually, Dave, my paternal grandmother, who was very practical and realistic, gave us all chocolate Easter bunnies as a reward for finding the matzo at the Passover Seder. Never seemed strange to me, and it was very good chocolate!

  • Check into liability if you decide to go that route. One of the longstanding members of this forum once tried to get a kid's scrolling group together, and was hit with impossible liability considerations.

I believe that shop classes are slowly disappearing from the public schools, which...

Down to the wire! Hope it all goes seamlessly (pun intended) and that tomorrow's surgery is routine and uneventful. Let us know how it all goes!
