We, our club, delivered over 900 toys last week to The Salvation Army, Ronald McDonald House, and a local children's hospital. Included were most of these trucks. (I sold a few)

  • I have used Shellac or Lacquer and then sand it to 180 grit before applying other finishes. Lately I have been using Lacquer as a final finish also.

Today, we made our December delivery of toys to our local children's hospital, Ronald McDonald House, and The Salvation Army of 1,912 toys. Including 27 of these trains. That makes a total of 4,112 for 2019. About a thousand less than our best years but not too shabby. (Two of our main club contributors...

replied to New all in one printer.
I bought a "Brother" laser printer over a year ago, and it works well for me. The toner cartrige lasts a long time but mine only prints in black. (Cheaper than buying ink). Suits me fine because my wife has an ink jet printer that my computer is networked with, and if I want color, I use...

Right, no bearing on the bottom. I re-installed the old one and it seems a lot better. Not perfect but....
If I decide to change the lower one I will just go to a local bearing shop to get it. Will be a lot cheaper, that way, than to order it from the Hawk people.

Welcome! Lots of good advice here in this forum. Most do only fretwork but a few of us do not. We do Intarsia, toy making, inlay, 3d cutting, sign making. etc. Lots of different things to do with a scroll saw. Always good to have new members here....

Yes I do like the three wheel sets better, also. I have twenty-five train sets, like this one, to give to The Salvation Army next week for their Christmas gifting. I received the parts for my Hawk but the Pittman arm did not have the lower bearing with it, just the upper. I have the new Pittman...

Next week, we will make our clubs December delivery of toys. Included this year this will be twenty-five of these train sets. "The Salvation Army" makes up Christmas packages to give out so I plan to give all of these train sets to that effort.

    Ladybug house

I decided to make this ladybug house when I saw some ladybugs in my planter box. I understand they need a warm and secure place to overwinter. Ladybugs are good at eating plant pests like aphids so I would like to help them survive the winter. No plans, I just saw a photo of one and made it to be similar.

Is there a separate bearing required when replacing the Pittman arm? I would like to do it myself. Also, do I need an arbor press to do this?...

I have run that set screw all the way in and still can tighten the tension but it will not stay there. I called the manufacturer. today and she suggested the cam needs replacing. I also found a little play (1/16") in the lower arm to the plastic pitman assembly and this may be why the saw is...

I have tried tweaking this set screw form very loose to up all the way. No help. Could it be that I am adjusting it too much each try?
