    It's now a wall hanger...
It's not very often Mrs.Trout gives me compliments on my work because she really isn't a fan on some of the stuff I make. I got home from work today and she told me that the car was beautiful and that the pictures don't do it justice..WOW

Hey Rolf, I'm not sure how deep the color goes and at this point I'm not willing to find out..
all I know is that my hands better be clean and oil free before I even touch them.
i know I can get away with a light steel wool..

This is what happens when you fume cherry wood with ammonia for 4 days.....
    Is that crazy or what...
The upper rear panel and the roof is from the same piece of wood...

Regular all purpose household ammonia from the $1 store works just fine..

    Let the fuming begin..
what I'm doing here is fuming the cherry wood with ammonia in a air tight container. The longer you leave it the darker the wood gets..
we'll check it in 3 days...

As for giving the body a 2 tone look..
I'm going to fume the side of the car and the hood with ammonia to turn the cherry wood as dark as I can get it.
im leaving the upper rear panel, trunk and roof natural for the lighter look..
    im hoping for good look

I sure could use some suggestions on how to shape this thing to give it some depth..
im thinking about raising the front fender and side a 1/4 inch but then the grill and bumper wouldn't be even.
this is where the make it or break it comes into play..
any sugestions before I do any...

    My 56 Chevy project

I started this project a couple weeks ago...
I've got the car all cut so all that's left is putting some tires on it. then its onto the making it or breaking it part with the shaping and sanding..I'm also planning on putting a 2 tone to the body by fuming it..
    The woods are cherry, maple,...
