I am thinking the change in blades might be a part of it. I started using Flying Dutchman Ultra Reverse #5 blades when they first came out, I have now switched to Pegas Scroll Saw Blades Modified Geometry blades . I have been told they are more aggressive.. Hard to tell, but I am seeing a change...

Thanks for the compliment. I did send Hannah an email this morning.. She was working on another one of Charles patterns that I cut.. Maybe she will change it to this one.. Each one I do seems to get better.. Going to try his elephant next... Great patterns make cutting so much more fun....

  • Can you imagine 'shelter in place' without a hobby

I really am happy that I make sawdust. Feel sorry for all the people who have no hobbies.
Today I went thru my scrap bin and cut 1 1/2 strips to make Smiley People. This was my last batch....

I gave the trivet a 5 minute bath in watco natural oil. (from Nevada--) The 275 and 350 VOC versions are sticky mess that does not dry evenly.. The original works great. California is not the place to do woodworking.. For trivets I usually give 2 baths (need one more) for all the rest 1 bath and spray...

I have noticed I am cutting much faster with these blades.. I cut about 9 John 3:16 hearts a year.. always between 4 1/2 hours and 5 hours.. cut 2 at 2 hours with the pegas blades. will have to see when I do one in cherry... .. I have been told they are aggressive and not for a beginner....

Pattern by Charles Hand 9 3/4 x 3/4 Black Walnut. 5 3/4 hours cutting time. Used 4 pegas modified geometry #5 and 1 #3 for the wings. A fun pattern to cut. Pick out one pattern shape at a time to figure out where to drill and cut. Just follow the lines and move on to the...

    A Charles Hand Trivet

Especially for those not on FB. So far this has been a lot more fun than I had thought. doing one row at a time. Figure out the drill spot and cut for 1/2 hour without having to think about how to cut the next cut. Well that is until i found out that devious, nasty, shifty, sly, tricky Charles Hand...

I check this forum every few days.. FB has taken over. I look at the Café, and Village every couple of weeks (I see those 2 sites as mainly for portrait type artists). I miss the old MSN groups.. That is were I learned the most. Moved here when they closed up. This still feels like the best place...
