My dad used to tell a story about a guy who put in grass like Jim mentions. I don't remember all of it but it involved the guy not wanting to have to pull dandelions anymore. So one night somebody went into the yard and painted dandelions on his yard.

Yes gumbo is nasty. I"ve deer...

I had never heard the one about grass seed on top of snow. Usually I would go to my dad for things like this and I still miss him not being around. I would have loved to ask him if had ever heard about that. For a lot of years my son and his friends would ride their bikes or sleds down the hill into...

    Thank you all.

Yes after doing some looking on the internet I'm inclined to wait until maybe September. I wandered around the front yard last night and it looks like it's clay or what we call around here gumbo. I think it's going to need to be aerated which as I understand it is running...

What to do with the front yard now

This is not scroll saw related but I've found that there are several knowledgeable members on this forum so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. After several years of our sewer backing up in the basement we finally got tired of having it snaked out all the time. Our plumber who...

  • So let me keep beating this dead horse. I worked on compounds yesterday. I was using a FD #7 polar blade because that's all I had. It seemed to me that it didn't take the blade very long to become dull. I would start out nice and slow and the next thing I know I'm pushing to beat the band to just get...

My issue arrived today in the mail. I must admit I was mildly surprised. It usually shows up later then everyone else's. I think it has something to do with mailing schedule. But I'm not complaining. Going down to the basement and my recliner now to look at it.

  • I'm pretty sure the blade was in right. It was an 1 3/4 piece of poplar. Once I was done cutting I couldn't even get the piece to come apart out of the block. Which as I remember it, indicates to much pushing and making the blade bend.

For what it's worth I cut an ornament out of pine and...

  • So, I made the jig with the sandpaper and switched to a FD polar #5. Why do I have to push so hard to get the blade to cut? I'm real sure it's not going to look right by the time I get the second side cut. The saws speed is set at 2 1/2 but if I go slow it doesn't act like it's cutting. I also tried...
