Pop, that is an excellent drawing of Mickey as Bob Cratchet. I am sure your friend was thrilled to receive it. People who visit my home quickly learn two things about me, first that I am a big Mickey fan as shown by all the collectibles throughout my house. Second, that I am a die hard Tennessee Vol...

Pop, yes, I a, a HUGE Disney fan. Mickey in particular. Lots of Disney memorabilia at my house. Those Disney birdhouses you made are too cute! While I have seen birdhouses with “faces” before, I have never seen ones with Disney characters. Your’s look great. Thanks for showing them to us.

Couldn't agree with you more Jim. I always love everything Carole does and wish I had just a small ounce of the talent she does.

I also like the hot air ballon that they had in the letters section using the SpectraPly from Jim Maciag. That is the same hot air ballon pattern I had recently...

You did an excellent job on it too. Perhaps they sent your early copy to the OTHER John Nelson. Or perhaps someone at the post office lifted your copy. ...

I look forward to seeing more of your work Pop. There was a lady who used to sell at a craft show in our area the weekend after Thanksgiving. She used to make similar types of "occupational" or "hobby" Snowmen and women from material, filling, and small objects/items related to...

Thank you Tony, Betty, Scott and Rolf for your kind words. I appreciate them and the encouragement that I have always gotten here and in the Village. You all just keep giving me ideas of new things to try. Scott, get on that elephant and I will try to get on mine and we can try to get them done this...

Nice work. I really like items done on wood with a live edge. Are you planning on putting some sort of finish on the piece?

Thanks Denny and Fibber. Denny - you are right - no intarsia pieces shown. I actually have the Giraffe Momma and her baby and Willie Nelson both from advanced classes that I took with JGR last year that I need to finish up. Something else always seems to get in my way though. Anyone who has taken...

    Holiday Work I did

This is a duplicate post to that I put in the Village. I know some of you visit both places but some of you don't. Didn't want anyone to think I never do work on my saw!

Here are some of the projects I worked on last month. Of course, I didn't get near the items done that I intended...

  • Jeff excellent work on all of these. I am sure your family will cherish the ones of your beloved son and your father for sure. I am sorry for the loss of your son. I cannot imagine the grief and pain your family endured in losing him so young. I pray that you are finding healing and peace. Thank...

Those are excellent quality work Denny - as expected. Will be interested in hearing how they do in Gatlinburg shop.

Welcome back. Those are just adorable. Do you have "patterns" that you use for the characters - or just come up with them on your own? Thanks for showing.

Didn’t get mine yet either today. Tomorrow is a new day, so maybe then. I did check at our local Lowe’s yesterday to see if it was there yet. It wasn’t. Made me feel better

My family home burned my first year in college. It did not burn to the ground but it was “totaled” by the insurance due to the smoke and water damage alone. It destroys everything pretty much even if the flames did not get to it. Our house was taken completely back to the studs and rebuilt. Nothing...

  • With Intarsia work, you are not doing "inlay" in the true sense of the word as I understand the term "inlay". In intarsia, you are not "inlaying" the design into another piece of wood. You are cutting each piece out and using sanding, shaping, and if needed, raising shims...
