  • Excellent repair work for a delicate task and definitely worth the effort for such a nice piece of work

I remember several years back just after I began producing some segmentation pieces I was faced with a similar problem on the arm of a figure I'd made which had no backing board and which...

  • Hi meflick - thank you very much for your reply. Its so kind of you to make the offer to send me your son's patch but now not necessary.
Fortunately last night I arranged a back up method of getting a couple of regular patches from the US to me. One of the companies I ordered from, Northwest Eye...

  • Chasing Senator Dan Crenshaw - not a political post!

Mexico City airport customs clearance area has the reputation of being the Latin American version of the black hole of Calcutta. Lots of imported stuff goes into their area but little comes out!

For the past 3 weeks I've been patiently waiting for 2 separate packages each containing a pirate...

Costa Rican exotic woods plus turned bowls

Our first ever family vacation to Costa Rica this past Christmas was planned to take in a number of national parks to view the diverse scenery, flora and fauna of which this small country is famous for. At the same time I was on the lookout for local arts and crafts.

    I was a little surprised...

Go for it Betty and one forum tip someone suggested I should follow when I produced my first intarsia/segmentation piece.

Keep it for yourself and sign and date the reverse side of it and hang it up somewhere prominent where you can see it.

Always be proud of that first...

I'm free and about to hit the road again

    Hi forum pals

Just wanted to share some great news I've had with those of you who have been following my various health issues.

Having got through my eye removal surgery with a couple of hiccups on the way I now don't have to visit the iMen again for at least 2 months at which...

Hey Stephen - believe it or not I was seriously thinking of making an intarsia patch for a bit of fun. I fancy having one with a dragon eye inset into a piece of wenge. We will see... no pun intended!

So there you are my friend. I've been trying to contact you for a while with no luck.
How's it going? Still living your crazy all work and no play life?
Let me know how we can make contact.
    Take care!

Hey my friend. Fantastic craftsmanship as usual.
So do we have to call you Rhys aka Donovan after this project is finished? Definitely need to see that video of you strumming your latest instrument.

PS - I have an idea for your new project. A scale model of our favorite Indian....

  • Only lunatics gaze at the moon - unless its a 'Super Blood Wolf Moon'

It's cold down in Central Mexico tonight at around 8000 ft above sea level but with a perfectly clear sky Kevin and I just had to go outside at around 10:30 CST to see if we could capture some photos of a really interesting total lunar eclipse known as a 'Super Blood Wolf Moon'

    ThereĀ“s...

    Hi Denny.

These 'gizmos', as you call them probably don't serve much purpose other than to be looked at and admired for the craftsman ship involved but nevertheless I find them fascinating.

    Thanks for the post.

I changed my avatar using a Sharpie!

Time seems to have flown by since my last post on my eye removal surgery which took place 5 weeks back and one thing I've been meaning to do is change the awful avatar picture I had posted showing an ocular eye patch where my left eye used to be.

Well, as I am now sporting a temporary prosthesis...

Thanks Tony for posting this sad news along with the link to the condolences book.

Like many, I always appreciated DW's contribution to this forum and it is sad to lose an individual of his talent and helpfulness particularly at relatively young age.

    May he rest his peace...
