  • New Ornaments

A few ornaments completed recently. These are all entered in the Ornament Challenge sponsored by AsWoodTurns.com. A single person can only enter 5 ornaments - any type, any medium - into the contest. As a club we are trying to enter a large amount in order to win a free IRD (interactive remote demonstration).

I added glitter to several of my ornaments to let them "sparkle". The challenge was putting the glitter on. After looking at my options, I used some varnish and then before it dried sprinkled the ornament with glitter (over a metal pan lined with a paper towel to catch the excess). Someday I will redraw the 2-sided cardinal ornament so it is more symmetrical.

Barbara they all look great. I have seen glitter paint in craft stores though I have not used any. I think it was made by Krylon. That might be another option.

Beautiful ornaments. I just sprinkle glitter on wet unicorn spit stain and it sticks. I even dip it afterwards and it doesn’t come off.
