Napa wine rack

Mrs.Trout has been asking me to make her a wine rack to fit under this table.

I wasn't sure what I could make to fit under there that would look good until I came across the pattern of the Napa wine rack in the Cherry Tree catalog...

here are the 12 sides that I have been working on the last couple days.
it sure would be easier if I had better table saw and a bigger shop...

you know me, I'm always thinking what I could do to make this a blue ribbon winner and I think I have a couple pretty good ideas...

it's furlough Friday....
last night I glued up some wood for the wine rack so it would be all ready to cut this morning...
I get Mrs.T off to work, I had my morning coffee and now shop time...

what's the first thing I do? I cut the wrong piece of wood, and that was the good peice....
I ended up spending the next 3 hours redoing it using the not so good wood I had left...

if this was just a wine rack for Mrs.T's wine that would of been no big deal... but no, I have to make it as perfect as I can get it..is that sick or what!

I made black ink!

I'm not liking this idea now...
I made a bonizing solution to darken up my oak, I wanted it to look old not black...

I'm not big on staining but I wanted something different.
I don't think it being that dark would work with my other ideas???

there's a couple more leaves that go along with it too.
the plan is to have the grapevines going down both sides...

I'm just out here lurking...lurk...lurk. Thought it was time to get back to see what the group has been up to. Shoulda known you'd be making sawdust. Ever try 'tea' staining oak? I never had but did have some success making some ash look aged a while ago... seems like a long while ago too.
