  • I changed up the pattern

I changed up the pattern for the Irish Valentines card since I was having some problems cutting it. So with the ideas running through my head, I was up till 330 am this morning revamping it. This is what I have cut thus far, again. I changed the font so that it will match the inside of the card and added room for the binding when I get to that part.
This is just the front of the card.

Hi Cherie - nice work up to now.
      Couple of questions please...
What problems did you have cutting the original pattern?
What wood stock did you end up using?

Looking forward to the end result.

Jim, most of the problems occured while cutting the font. When I design the pattern, I did not put a large enough gap between the lettering and the lettering itself. Needless to say, I started to break them off. The pattern was a bit small so that did not help. I enlarged everything, but the card is still the orginal size it is suppose to be, well except for the extra 1/2 inch I added for the binding, that I did not take into consideration when I first made the pattern. After I placed it on the wood I realized I was in trouble.

The thickness of the card is 1/8 Baltic Birch Ply. The backers are going to be 1/4 Russian birch that a friend sent me.

I have not started cutting the inside yet, but that is coming!
