the plans for the cup cake boxes suggests using a 1 3/8 inch thick wood which I don't have... so what I did on the first one was to glue two 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 3/4 inch boards together and then cut it down to 1 3/8 with my band saw (pictured on the left)...

the one pictured on the right, I cut 4 pieces at 1 3/8 x 3 1/2 x 3/4 and glued them together..instead of having the end grain running on the sides it now is on the top and bottom...

Carole mentioned in the book that you don't have to use the exact measurements, if you use different measurement then you might have to make some angle adjustments to make up for it....
I think I'll be using the second method for any future cup cake boxes...
