  • Simple VW Beetle

Very easy to make with the scroll saw, wheels are bought. The son of my girlfriend wants it painted, but I wanted to show a picture of it as is, cause I like natural wooden toys.

Beech wood, 2 cm thick, 12 cm long

Thanks for the compliments. I painted the Beetle and scrolled a few other cars so they have company.

They look great Bob! You're right Sue, no matter now much we prefer the natural look, we're not the ones playing with them. Most of the time anyways..

The cars look great, painted as well as unpainted. However, I would add wheel spats to the beetle. From my childhood memories, a beetle ought to have this big rounded covers over its front and rear wheels. May be not so much over the rear, but the ones covering the front wheels looked enormous, at least to a 5-year old boy....

Thinking of that, I wonder if one could compound cut a little beetle out of a block of wood? The scrollsaw wold limit the size to 2 inch / 5cm high at the most, but still...
