I am carving greenwood. Can I be able to stain and finish while it is curing?

    Re: Greenwood

My Opinion.. Yes and No ???
I have a walking stick I turned while green and finished with poly over 30 years ago and it looks great, never cracked.
But I have carved some green wood and finished it the same way and it cracked the next day. I guess it depends on the wood ! I would say to go ahead and carve the piece and let it dry for a while then fill any cracks and then finsh it !
    Good Luck !

      That is beautiful.

I am chaffing at the bit to get back to the scroll saw, Unfortunately the urban renewal project "Redoing the deck" has taken over all of my time.

Excellent contrast not only in wood choices (LOVE the bocote), but also 90 degree corners on the bocote and radius corners on the maple. Very nice!
