Kentucky Coffeetree is just one of the many names for this wood. I worked on the railroad for 41 years an didn't know that it is sometimes used for making railroad ties. I seen it at the store today and it is very nice looking but now not to sure how it will cut. Tryed to post a link to the web site were I got the info but this site would go away each time I tryed. Here is there address: woodworkerssource.com The wood is used for a lot of different things besides ties.
