Sanding and calibration disk.

A spontaneous purchase bit me in the butt. I bought this disc from woodcraft https://www.woodcraft.com/products/w...mounting-plate with the primary purpose of using it to fine tune my table saw alignment. It is advertised as sanding / calibration disk! I installed it in my table saw and put a dial indicator on it. It has fluctuations of over .015" that would seriously screw up my saw. I sent Woodcraft an e-mail, it will be interesting to see how they respond.

Hope they respond faster than Rockler has about an issue we reported in Dec and again in Jan. Not good.

The disk looks like it is powder coated. I don't see how they could do that and get a precise thickness over the entire surface.

I saw that when I ordered the air cleaner. I mentioned it to Bruce and his comment was I’ll pass. He loves Woodpecker tools and we have quite the collection of them.

Thank you for sharing Rolf. Too bad there will be a lot of people less observant than you who will wonder why it doesn't give them the results they want. Anything advertised for calibration should fall under better quality control standards.

I agree about how it was advertised, but it is my own fault, I know better. Just for curiosity I may strip the paint off and see how true the plate is.

The good thing is that while I had my saw blade off I cleaned it sprayed Crud cutter on it let it sit then wiped it off with a skotchbright pad. I was surprised that some of the paint washed off also. Strong stuff that crud cutter.
