  • Castor wood a.k.a. Florida Bamboo

Does anybody know how I can obtain some Castor wood? ???
I was at a carving show not to long ago and a gentleman there was carving walking sticks out of this wood. It seemed pretty easy and it looked real nice. Does anyone have any info on this type of wood or had experiance with this?

I would be interested in getting some to try my hand at walking stick carving.

According to my tree book it grows in southern florida and some species have poisonous sap. It's a shrubor small tree growing to 25 feet. That's all I know cause that's all that's in the book. Sorry.

Now is the time for puzzles for me. Impulse buy. I make kids puzzles mostly out of poplar, Bruce’s “pay” from the sawmill and sell them for $10-$15. Will check it out. Waiting for my copy of the magazine.

Well I just looked under New Releases on Fox Chapels site and found the book. Under "preview" you can see a number of patterns just not all of them. I am glad they showed at least a few of them and I know why they would show them all. Maybe they could show however, really small images of...
