    Re: TOOTHPICK CARVINGS!!!!

I tried to get into your site twice, JD - both times it wouldn't respond. I'm really interested in seeing what a 'toothpick' carving is!! And MORE interested in how you've done a website about it without pictures!

I also ran the search and got to see a few of the photos of carved toothpicks. They are definitly a challenge to do, but done they are! Very inventive material.

                  J.D.

I would suggest for such small items that you might be better off if you can find a friend with a good 35mm camera with a macro lens, a tripod, and a cable release. The film can be developed and put on a disk so you can upload the pics to your computer and site. I am thinking about dusting off my Minolta and using it for pics since I took Christmas pics with both it and the digital and the pictures on disk from the 35mm are far superior.

                          Re: TOOTHPICK CARVINGS!!!!

You folks are too easily impressed. :

I can carve a toothpick chain out of a 1in x 1in x 3 ft long piece of basswood. Then take a picture and superimpose a penny next to it. (could work) :-/

I do have a friend who carved several toothpics and matchsticks into chains. He sharpened dental instruments into chisels and had more patience than I have.

I did try to make pliers from wood kitchen matches once, without success, but I used up a whole box of matches before I gave up.

                              JD,
I don't know if this will work for you but you might want to try and scan your toothpick carvings on a flatbed scanner.

I would love to see them. Let us know when you get pictures.

Great work and patience needed to pull off these smaller toys. You did a fantastic job! I really like them.

I'm curious to know what type of paints you use if you don't mind sharing the brand name.

Nice precise work Alex, as always from you.

I also find Celtic these designs fascinating due to their intricacy and geometrical symmetry but I doubt I have your patience to cut them!

                                Well done!

Bstark, take a look at out simple table setup that I have posted in Bettys posting. This fair is an annual fund raiser for our churches women's group. So I pay for two 8 ft tables (so I don't need to bring any) A couple of nice table clothes and I put shutters on each end and made special shelves...

RJ actually that room was an add on to our sanctuary it was meant to be a Gym and the shutters where to protect the windows. I has never seen a basketball since it was built in 2001. Our pre school uses it and we use it for many events plus we rent it out for private use....

Here is my new Celtic cross, it is 5th one, I dont know why but they are quite popular, I just like them because it consists geometric ornaments and has 3D effect
