I don't think I've seen a post on this but if I missed it, sorry.
I recently read a SWWC project article that called for setting the table to something like 2.3 degrees. My first thought was "No way can I get it that accurate without an expensive angle measuring device".
Well, I recently traded in my dumb phone for a smart one. An LG Optimus P90. I began looking for useful apps and found a great one called Clinometer for an Android phone from Google Play. The basic functionality is free which includes a camera mode (phone held vertically) and table mode (phone laid flat -right image). The free version does have some small ads at the top of the screen (not terribly distracting) and I think the paid app is only $0.99. It includes a calibrate mode so you can align the phone and table.
Reviewers have good comments about it and its accuracy.
