  • My saw is dead

Went to turn on my hitachi the other day and nothing happened. After trying everything i could think of i checked the motor by straight wiring it.It worked so it seems i have a bad circuit board which costs over half what my saw cost. Not sure yet what i'm going to do.

I used to use the Hatachi myself. I used to read about folks having switch issues and so i went to a foot switch. If you install a foot switch and bypass the on /off switch on the top of the saw this may correct the issue. As for the cost of the board try this website for parts for your saw.

Try the switch thing first before giving up. I think you will be surprised.

D.W. is absolutely right. I eliminated the on/off switch, and use a foot pedal from Harbor Freight. There is also a foot switch on Amazon.com for a few bucks more. I have been using HF pedal for about 4 years of almost daily use.

If you have a compressor you can attempt to blow the switch out. Many of the cheap (quality and design) switches are subject to failure due to the build up of fine saw dust.

I also had the same problem with my Hitachi, I put new switches in and it would work for a while then same problem. I eventually went and put one of the old switches in and press prongs and connector hickeys towards each other and the switch would work again. It became a pain for me and I don't know anything really about wiring so I just found a way better saw and put the Hitachi in the corner as a "just in case" Good luck.

Among other things. I was surprised to see 190 proof. Everclear tops out at 150 proof here in NC, but I have seen it at 190 in Georgia.

What was the old college recipe? Equal parts Hawaiian Punch and Everclear? You pour it into Mayo jars, put the lids on and store in the original boxes....

I saw a "practice pattern" to learn how to operate my saw. I decided to print out what I thought was a fairly simple pattern that would cover all the cuts and possibly have something at the end. Please tell me that the pattern lines are really just suggestions. Improvisation is acceptable....

Those are great! I would be interested in seeing how you box them.

BTW, Everclear is banned in some states but still available in others. I also recently saw another brand of 190 proof at the local ABC store here in Gibsonville, NC. (I did a quick Google and found the brand is Diesel)
