  • Feedback Please: I have a chance to buy a Delta p-20

    I found a delta P-20 for sale.
    Any opinions on this machine?
It will cost me about 200 bucks, and it is 6-8 years old, but seems to be in good condition. Assuming all is well with the machine, has anyone used this machine? any feedback?

Have had my P-20 for 8 years with no problems. I believe it is one of the best scroll saws ever made. Heavy industrial type saw. The only problem will be getting parts for it as Delta no longer makes them.

"The only problem will be getting parts for it as Delta no longer makes them". That should be a good reasen not to buy it.

is this the same as a 40-680

is the p-20 the same as the 40-680?
if so I found this on the delta site about parts
        http://servicenet.deltamachinery.com...tNumber=40-680
before I buy this saw, please let me know if this seems the right thing.
many parts are available according to this.

40-680 is the model number of the P-20.
You can also find parts at Tool Parts Direct . com - The Online Tool Repair Parts Store and

I'll add in some food for thought too. I was unsure if I would enjoy this hobby (addiction) so I started with the Porter Cable from Lowes. I think it is a good entry level saw, 5 months later I found an Excaliber on Craigs List and have been happy ever since.

Food for thought, When I first started scrolling my thinking was "all I want to do is this and I will never do that as it doesn't interest me". I didn't know I would be working with SSWWC or get sucked into creating Intarsia or doing large intricate fretwork, like Charles Hand designs....

Just read an article from Indianapolis where small businesses are reporting great sales.
Glad you made out well and Bruce got to be salesman for a while.
