The blade holder broke on my Hawk!!!! AAAAAAaaaaaaaaa.
I was having a good time cutting pendents and the plastic, (should be metal), clip that holds the bottom blade holder broke. NOT FUN.
I emailed Hawk just now seeing if they have the upgrade to convert my saw to top loading or if I have to just order the clip.
It would be really great if I could get a kit to change to top loading. Old folks sometimes have trouble bending over to look under the project to insert the blade from below. sometimes.

Glad to here you got fast service. The ability to top or bottom feed is what I like about the Hawk G4 that was a great change.

Stephan, I believe the new clips are metal. Guess you'll know soon.

How I wish that were true John. I asked about that and they only have the plastic. They have no plans for making metal ones.

Ok That is wierd because I just got a new clip for my G4 and it is metal? post a picture of the clip if you can. It may be different from what is on my saw.

Rolf, here is a photo of the part. I ordered two in case it breaks again. I'm going to tape the second one to the bottom of the saw so I don't loose it.
The pen is there to show the size of the parts.

That is completely different from the G4 setup.
Your bottom clamp is the barrel type right?

I had a Hawk for two weeks once. I sent it back. Was a brand new model at the time (six years ago?) and had problems.

I sent an email to them over a week ago and have not heard back. They never answer their phone. Are they still in business?

I wonder what is stressing the part? all of the force should be on the lower arm not on the clip. All it does is keep the clamp in place.

Yup Rolf. That is a puzzler to me too. The new one that failed broke at the screw hole. I'm thinking it was defective right there. The second new one is doing well. I am taking a lot of care when I change the blade. Minimum stress on the lil clip thing.
