Blades for Plywood

Hello everyone. Much enjoying the forums and learning from everyone and enjoying the patterns here on the site. I plan to submit some of my own when I learn how to make them. My question today is that I receive alot of large chucks of plywood at work for free. My question is what kind of blades should I be using. They are between 1 to 4 inches thick.

First you will find you cannot cut 4 inch thick material on a scroll saw, max is around 2 inches thick.
2nd, Plywood you are getting from work is probably contract grade plywood & is not suitable for most scroll saw projects due to splintering and interior voids. Unless it is cabinet grade plywood and not laminates even cabinet grade plywoods may contain voids between the layers. When you read about plywoods we are using we use a fine grade of plywood typically baltic birch which has several layers without any voids.

As for blades 1 inch thick will require a number 7 and may work better with a number 9 or even a 12 and be aware that the glues in plywood will dull your blades very quickly.
