  • Eclipse saw

I had the chance to try the Eclipse saw at the Open House.
That is a very impressive saw, had it been available when I bought my G4 I certainly would have considered it. I just wish it was a top feeder also.
It is very smooth and quiet.

The Eclipse has been around longer then the G4 believe it or not. Its a precision machine, and since its not marketed by a major corporation, not many get a chance to see it in action. With each one being hand built and tested, chances of getting a lemon are pretty much impossible. It is a smooth running machine though isnt it! Dale

Rolf, I see you have both the G4 and a Delta. The Delta has a cast iron table and the G4 has an aluminum table. What is your opinion of the two and which do you prefer? I know the G4 is a better saw than the 350 but was wondering about the aluminum table. Just curious.

I prefer the aluminum table primarily because it will not rust.
The only thing I have to be careful of with it is to make sure that my nails don’t stick through because they would scratch the aluminum table. (stack cutting)
Most importantly both the Delta and G4 tables are very flat.
I like my Delta and use it as my going to meetings saw.
In no way does it compare to the G4 in performance, as well it shouldn’t considering the price difference.

Mike, I took my Delta completely apart about a year ago and used whit lithium grease on all of the pivot points and tightened all of the allen screws in the drive train. It is amazing how much quieter and smooth it is now.
        great saw for the money.
