I know we would all like to have every tool we ever desired, but I also know we can't all afford them.
There are some people who are fortunate enough to be members of woodworking guilds and scroll saw clubs.
If there is such a guild or club in your area I would encourage you to join, even though I know for some scrolling is a private affair which lets you relax without the interference of others.
In a woodworking or scrolling club you can pool resources. One person may already have a thickness planer or a bandsaw. There may be jigs already made for that project you are working on.
Another option could be going to your local high school. I have found there is never enough expertice in the scrolling area of schools. You may be able to offer to do a few demonstrations in order to use some equipment after class.
This is also a good source of scraps of wood. We all know the learning curve leads to errors, and if you need an offcut of butternut to finish of an intarsia project it just may be there.

Reply to NWA Showcase 2023 Resultsby theframerReally nice work, congratulations.
I hope there were more vendors this year than previous years. We used to go every year, but we decided it wasn't worth the 2 1/2 hour drive this year. We do miss seeing the incredible work from all the talented entrants, but the exhibition hall needs...-
